Chromium Portable Help

Chromium Portable is a portable version of the Chromium web browser packaged in the PortableApps.com Format, so you can run it from an iPod, USB flash drive, portable hard drive, CD or any other portable media. You can take your bookmarks, extensions, plugins and saved passwords with you, and it will leave no personal information behind on the machine you run it on.

Go to the Chromium Portable homepage, or read the redistribution conditions.

Installing plugins

If you wish to have portable plugins, be aware that many plugins are linked to locally installed programs and will not function correctly in a portable environment. When testing plugins be sure to test them on a system that does not have the plugin installed locally.

Note that if a system has plugins installed locally for Firefox or Chrome, your Chromium Portable should find and use them automatically.

To install a plugin, first you need to find the location of a locally installed plugin. Run a local Firefox or Chrome and navigate to about:plugins. In Chrome, click "Details" on the right. In Firefox, follow these instructions. You should now be able to see each plugin's details, including the file path. Copy this file to Data\Plugins (create the folder if neccessary).

You can open about:plugins in Chromium Portable to verify which plugins are being loaded and used. Again, be sure to test the plugin on a computer without that plugin installed locally!

Reducing the application size

If space is a concern, there are some thing you can do to reduce the program size: Also, consider using the packed launcher.
